The Brewster FFA Livestock Judging team has been busy in March and early April. With trips to Smith Center, Jetmore and Phillipsburg, the team has opened their season with success. Senior team members Ryan Palmer, Brock Woolf, Samantha Skolout, Mallory Jackson and Blayne Reid kicked off the season with a 3rd place finish at Smith Center on Tuesday, March 29th. Traveling the very next day to Jetmore, the four students who are also 4-H members, Mallory Jackson, Madison Schroeder, Blayne Reid and Samantha Skolout, placed 2nd. Rounding out the busy week on Saturday, April 2nd was Brock Woolf, Blayne Reid, Mallory Jackson and 7th grader Joseph Mills. The team finished the day in 4th place. Woolf earned his personal best high score of 48 in spoken reasons with Reid following right behind him with a 47 in spoken reasons.

The Brewster FFA Wool Judging team competed in the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo Wool Judging Contest in Denver on January 13th and came home with the second place team award. The team competed against other FFA and 4-H teams from Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and surrounding states.
Team members Ryan Palmer, jr., Mallory Jackson, jr., Samantha Skolout, so., and Blayne Reid, so., all placed as individuals in wool judging and oral reasons. Individual overall placings were: Blayne Reid, 2nd; Ryan Palmer, 6th; Mallory Jackson, 8th; Samantha Skolout 9th. In Oral Reasons, sophomore Samantha Skolout out-talked the competition and placed 1st. Mallory Jackson was 3rd; Blayne Reid was 4th and Ryan Palmer rounded out the team with a 6th.

Tom is responsible for our FFA (National FFA Organization) and shop program. Tom has the students building and learning every day. He has many years experience and it shows! The students are excited and having more fun than should be allowed Students will be working in many areas this year including: Agricultural Mechanics; Small Engine; Livestock Judging; Horse Judging; Dairy Judging; Building projects, and much more. |
